MC Konudur 250 OM-PL resin specification

Two-component organic-mineral resin (winter modification) designed to impregnate
glass fibre laminates and hoses for the part redevelopment of waste water pipes.

Properties:   Areas of application
  • Low viscosity, high chemical resistance, for the repair of pipes used in wastewater areas exposed to constant humidity.
  • Two component system resistant to a wide range of acids and alkaline solutions
  • To be used on damp mineral based substrates (i.e. in waste water pipes)
  • Good adhesion on concrete, brick and ceramic substrates
  • No physiological disadvantages
  • Low form work times
  • For the impregnation and deep penetration of glass fibre laminates and hoses with reinforced polyester felts.
  • Repair of damaged pipes, pipings and construction elements in connection with wastewater.
  • Used for water infiltration, cracks, root damages etc.

Technical Data for Konudur 250 OM-PL Polyurethane Resin
(Technical values refer to + 20ºC and 50% relative humidity)
Base Component Organic mineral resin
Colour beige-brown
Number of components 2
Mixing ratio 1 part by volume component A
2 parts by volume component B
Viscosity Component A:560mPas
Component B:350 mPas
Mixture: 800 mPas
Density 1.502 g/cm3 component A
1.200 g/cm3 component B
Pot life at +5ºC approximately 27 min
Hardened product: in a 160g tin at +5ºC 5 mm thick (30 g) at +5ºC 42 minutes 55 minutes
Tack free: in a 160 g tin at +5ºC 5 mm thick (30g) at +5ºC after 60 minutes after 120 minutes
Coverage dependent on the density and thickness of the laminates/hose (Generally 0.9 l/mm fabric thickness and m2)
Minimum application conditions > + 5ºC up to + 20ºC ambient and substrate temperature
Higher temperatures shorten while lower temperatures lengthen the pot life. A temperature change of ± 10ºC either halves or doubles the pot life respectively.

Method of application:

Substrate preparation
The substrate must be clean and free from any dirt, dust, oil and other contaminants. The minimum concrete compressive strength should be >25N/mm2. A substrate pull-off strength of > 1.5N/mm2 is required. Please refer to our technical leaflet "Substrate and Surface Preparation". The substrate may be dry or slightly moist.

Mixing
Konudur 250 OM-PL consists of a base hardener component, which is supplied in pre-batched containers. Before application, both components must have a temperature of approximately 10 - 15ºC. The two components should be thoroughly mixed (3 minutes), preferably by a mechanical mixer rotating at a low speed. The pre-batched containers should be emptied for environmental reasons and in order to comply with the mixing ratio.

Application
Konudur 250 OM-PL is applied by impregnation or deep penetration respectively. All the material to be impregnated (fabrics, felts or hoses respectively) must be fully dry. If dampness is present a suitable bond of the fibres will not be achieved. This may lead to reduced strength of the liner or to deficiencies whilst hardening.

General
Coverage rates are dependent on texture, temperature and porosity of the substrate as well as product storage and workability temperature. To determine this exactly, a sample area should be laid and coverage noted. Higher temperatures shorten while lower temperatures lengthen the pot life. The general rule is that a temperature change of + 10ºC either halves or doubles the pot life respectively.

Before application please read the "Safety Measures for Handling Solvent containing Coating substances and Chemically Reactive Resins".
